Make up/lotion/creams and Eye health

So, different ingredients in makeup, lotion, and creams can be toxic to the cornea (front surface of the eye) or even the glands of the eye. This can cause issues with the comfort of your eyes or cause long-term effects on your eyes. The biggest thing I learned was most people use Retinoids, Retinal, Retinol, or Vitamin A creams shouldn't be used around the eyelids because all of these components are toxic to the Meibomian Gland and can cause Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, which is the number one reason to cause dry eye. Another one I wanted to bring up was Isopropyl Cloprostenate, which is a Synthetic Prostaglandin. Some of you may know about Latisse's only FDA-approved lash serum. The problem is based on a prostaglandin analog, which has long-term effects, including darkening under the eyes and a more sunk-in eye look. The worst part is that Synthetic Prostaglandin has similar or even worse side effects than typical prostaglandin. It does lengthen your lashes, but after years of use, you are going to be more worried about the side effects of the drug than your long lashes.
